Beginners Glass Cutting
Caroline Weidman
Two and a half hour session
A practical skills based course, designed with the complete novice in mind.
Aimed at those wanting to learn the skills of glass cutting, and who would like to go and try the traditional leading, fusing or copper foiling courses.
The course is also suitable for returners or those wishing to brush up on their glass cutting skills.
It introduces the use of hand tools for cutting and shaping glass, alongside handy hints and tips for how to stand ( or sit) and hold the tools, what to look out for when things go wrong and safe use of the grinder.
There is time given to practice each new skill as it is introduced, which builds into a variety of cutting skills from cutting and shaping straight lines, curves and small strips etc, which are the basis for working with sheet glass. Emphasis is placed on safe practice throughout the session to minimise risk and maximise the opportunity for participants to develop confident cutting skills.
